Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken pieces (drumsticks, thighs, or )
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • Cooking spray or oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the egg and buttermilk.
  4. Dip each chicken piece into the flour mixture, then the egg mixture, and back into the flour mixture.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil or brush with oil.
  6. Place the chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  7. Cook for 12 minutes, flip the chicken, and cook for another 10–12 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  8. Check the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  9. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket for even cooking.
  • Adjust cooking time based on the size of chicken pieces.
  • For extra crispiness, spray chicken lightly with oil before cooking.
