- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and salt. Stir until sugars dissolve.
- Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly, for 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and pour into a greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee and let sit for 2 minutes.
- Spread melted chocolate with a spatula and top with chopped nuts if desired.
- Cool completely before cutting into squares.

- Use a heavy-bottomed saucepan to prevent burning.
- Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
- For a softer texture, reduce boiling time by 1 minute.
