- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried rosemary
- 1 large onion, quartered
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 cup chicken broth
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Mix butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, thyme, and rosemary in a bowl.
- Rub the butter mixture all over the turkey, including under the skin.
- Place onion, carrots, and celery inside the turkey cavity.
- Put the turkey on a rack in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth into the pan.
- Roast for about 3-4 hours, basting every 30 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure the turkey is fully cooked.
- Leftover turkey can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days.
- For extra flavor, add herbs like sage or parsley to the butter mixture.
