- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 8 oz sliced mushrooms
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Shape into 4 equal patties.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Cook patties for 5 minutes per side or until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté mushrooms for 3 minutes.
- Whisk flour into water until smooth, then add to the skillet with beef broth.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 2 minutes.
- Return patties to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
- For extra flavor, add a splash of red wine to the gravy.
- Serve with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
