- 8 slices of thick bread (brioche or challah)
- 1/2 cup Nutella
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tbsp powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spread Nutella evenly on half of the bread slices. Top with the remaining slices to make sandwiches.
- Cut the sandwiches into cubes and place them in the prepared baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes. Press down gently to ensure all bread is soaked.
- Drizzle melted butter over the top.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown and set.
- Remove from the oven and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Use day-old bread for better texture.
- Let the casserole sit for 10 minutes before serving for best results.
- Top with fresh berries or whipped cream if desired.
