Description

A delicious and easy-to-make Nutella French toast casserole that’s perfect for breakfast or brunch. This dish combines the rich flavor of Nutella with soft bread and a creamy custard.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices of thick bread (brioche or challah)
  • 1/2 cup Nutella
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread Nutella evenly on half of the bread slices. Top with the remaining slices to make sandwiches.
  3. Cut the sandwiches into cubes and place them in the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt.
  5. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes. Press down gently to ensure all bread is soaked.
  6. Drizzle melted butter over the top.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown and set.
  8. Remove from the oven and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Use day-old bread for better texture.
  • Let the casserole sit for 10 minutes before serving for best results.
  • Top with fresh berries or whipped cream if desired.
