Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in egg and vanilla until dough forms.
  5. Press half the dough into the prepared pan.
  6. In another bowl, toss apples with cinnamon and nutmeg. Spread over dough.
  7. Top with remaining dough, pressing lightly.
  8. Mix 1 tbsp sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon. Sprinkle over the top.
  9. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Cool before cutting into bars.
